i sent my application for fire academy in on monday, and i got my confirmation call the next day. so i'm definately going in september. :)

so
i finished the winter semester and we just have another 8 weeks until i'm done with paramedic school. i'm going to study like never before, because can you imagine failing after getting this far? and we have tests that we have to pass to go on in the class, even if we had an A before we took the test.
fire academy starts in 4 months from last friday. i'm almost done with going to school. i took so long to get here.

i passed my lab midterm.
the one online isn't looking good though. our teacher had been saying that there were glitches and stuff with it, and i hope that's what happened. otherwise, i have some serious catching up to do in the next 8 weeks of the semester.

p.s. my favorite person on American Idol got kicked off last night. :(
i have clinical tomorrow, i wish i didn't. i just want to relax already, after this week.

i deleted some people from my friends list because i'm not on here often enough to keep up with people i don't know in real life or haven't been lj friends with since forever. i know i added most of you in the first place. sorry.

one of our midterms is online and my buddy took it last night and got a 62. i'm scared now. i'm taking it tomorrow, the last day we can. i have my lab midterm tomorrow too. i'm scared about that, too. we only have 2 stations, megacode and static EKG.
i had clinical today, and i sucked. i really wanted to have a great day and have all successful intubations so i'd be feeling more confident for my midterms. that didn't happen. so i'm still nervous.

don't you find it odd when store clerks and drive thru window cashiers say "have a blessed day"? i do, a little.

i should go study now. i spent an hour and a half and $60 in Target just now. why do i do these little bad things? i didn't need any of that shit. i bought like red plastic dishes and fitness magazines. oh i did buy one thing i totally needed. i got a Viva La Bam hat for $3.50. totally worthy purchase. also - a plate shaped like a monkey head.

well. i haven't posted in a month and a half, so i thought i'd assure you all that i am, in fact, alive. now that that's been taken care of...
i completed my 250-new-movies-challenge last year, and have renewed it for this year. however, i'm going for 300 this year. that's 25/month. i'm sure i'll make it.
i also joined 50bookchallenge and am doing that, too. i'm at 20/300 for the movies and 2/50 for the books. that's ok, i'll catch up. yesterday I watched The Long, Hot Summer starring Paul Newman. I watched The Marine this morning with my brother, and we both liked it. you'd like it too! all of you.
i rented Jesus Camp, Sherrybaby, and Unknown this morning. i'll get through 2 today.
oh, but i need to study, too, don't i? yes, yes, i do. there's like 25 drug cards i was supposed to learn a month ago that i still don't know. *sigh* i've been to 2 of my 3 intubation clinicals in the OR. they were kind of fun.
i had Subway for lunch.
oh, and i'm 25 now, too. how terribly old! i had to renew my drivers liscense my birthday was like 2 weeks ago and i got lots of movies which is what i told my mommie to buy for me. i got The Night Listener, did you all see it? i was stunned and dismayed that it was not up for one single solitary award this award season, because it so definately deserved to be. but you know what has gotten a few Oscar noms? Jackie Earle Haley for Supporting Actor and Kate Winslet for Best Actress in Little Children, which was a phenomenal, amazing, fantastic film that I loved, and it's up for Best Adapted Screenplay too. And The Departed is nominated for some things too, and it's coming out on DVD next month. Isn't that exciting? I'm glad you agree.
when i'm big and have my own house, i'm going to have massive Oscar parties. i'll have a huge flat screen TV and make gourmet hors d'oevres things and have champagne and invite everyone i know, and a few people i don't. how delightful.
i guess that's all i have to say for now... maybe i'll post again in another month and a half.

dudelettes it's finals week and i'm online instead of studying. what the hell is wrong with me?! i need mental help...
so far this year i have seen 231 movies. i think i'll make it to 250 by year's end.

I felt like posting a little, but I don't actually have anything to say... finals in 2 weeks. and then I have clinicals! oh, the terror.
yesterday i watched Scoop, with Woody Allen & Scarlett Johansson. it was very funny and Scarlett Johansson is very beautiful and tasty looking, so you should all see it. today i watched a movie called Guys & Balls, which I enjoyed. I like German movies about gay boys playing sports. it's like a whole genre. Summer Storm was better than Guys & Balls, but they were both better than any similar American film I've seen. tonight i will watch See No Evil which could be stupid, but hopefully will be gory enough so that it doesn't matter. i have a Swedish movie too to watch called All Things Fair. And Blockbuster is sending me a movie called Breaking Away, I can't remember what it's about. But it should arrive tomorrow. Well. I can't think of anything else to say at the moment.

You know what's bizarre? McKesson called me to work at Oakwood this weekend. I haven't worked for them since late March/early April. But who am I to turn down easy money? So I'm going to Oakwood on Friday & Saturday. Probably not for too many hours, but whatever. Man, I wish I still worked for them all the time. That job was the shit.

Also: sometimes when I flush the toilet and I'm afraid it's going to back up or get stuck, I sing "Break on through to the other side" and it flushes properly.

I would just like everyone to know: Yesterday, I watched my 200th not-seen-by-me-before film of 2006. That was my goal, and I reached it. I celebrated that momentous occasion by watching another movie. Since there's still a month+ left of '06, I'm going to try for 250.
I anticipate being up to 203 by the end of the night. That is all.

Just now I did something, a small act, the push of a button, really, that was supposed to provide me some peace, some closure. But instead I felt immeasurably sad, defeated, a sense of loss. Like I had just given up hope & like the blood had drained out of my veins.

I wish I still mattered to you, like you will never stop mattering to me.

I want so badly to scream. The library closes in less than a half hour and I've been staring at this ECG strip and the textbook for LITERALLY 2 HOURS. I don't know if it's wandering atrial pacemaker or accelerated junctional rhythm or some other rhythm entirely. I don't know, I don't know, I don't know!!! And I have to answer these questions in 20 minutes, but I DON'T KNOW!
